Missed Classes or Exams
New England Wine Academy does not refund or credit for missed classes or examination assessments. Every effort is made to communicate this information ahead, but it is the candidate's responsibility to read and understand all relevant dates and times, including time-zone differences, for any and all courses and exams, online or in-person.
Students taking a Remote Invigilation exam (online) must be aware that they will receive multiple advance emails with instruction on how to perform a systems check, as well as the link to the exam. Students must review the system check procedure and make NEWA and/or WSET aware of any issues that may prevent them from taking an RI exam on the specified day. Failure to do this may result in a forfeiture of the exam fee. WSET does provide a comprehensive Remote Invigilation Guide, which can be reviewed here.
The student must read and understand the class or seminar Specification available on www.newenglandwineacademy.com under each course section. If there is a question regarding any course detail, please ask before booking.
On occasion, the New England Wine Academy will offer a course or seminar for which the above “Cancellation, Refunds & Rescheduling Policies” does not apply. In those instances, the registration page for the class or course will reflect the modified policy for that specific event.
Inclement Weather
Weather is a tricky thing, but in the event of a weather event that may cause concerns with regard to safety for a class or exam, the event will be rescheduled to the next earliest convenient date and time. Shipping
Anything shipped by New England Wine Academy is the responsibility of the receiver. All materials will be shipped by New England Wine Academy using a trackable method. Once delivery is confirmed to the address given it is the receivers responsibility to ensure that it gets safely to them from the point of delivery. Any refunds on course materials will be less the associated postage and handling fees.
Students based outside of the continental United States should be aware that additional charges will be applied for shipping of materials and / or certificates and pins. The cost of these charges should be discussed prior to enrollment to confirm the amount and that all parties are in agreement of the additional fees.
Shipping fees will include the full amount of the postage or handling charges due to the carrier, as well as any service or fee charges related to the cost of the shipping.
New England Wine Academy does reserve the right to refund or cancel the enrollment of any student if there is no prior agreement to any additional shipping charges before the enrollment deadline.
Lost Exams
WSET requires all exam forms to be sent with tracking to London for processing. In general, NEWA uses DHL for this service.
While this is very rare, it is still a remote possibility. Due to the nature of international shipping and customs regulations, we cannot insure your exam or otherwise attach value to it as this would incur customs duty for the shipment. Should an exam be lost, we will exercise all options available to us to locate the exam. NEWA will order a new exam for you and work with you to re-test at the earliest possible convenient time. NEWA will pay for the exam, related wines and all shipping fees for this replacement exam.
Course Registration:
- Please refer to the course detail page for exact dates and times related to the specific course you are interested in.
- For most in-person courses, students must register at least two weeks (14 days) before the course begins, provided there are seats remaining. For registration requests done less than two weeks prior to the start of a course, the registration will only be done at the discretion of NEWA.
- For most online courses, including WSET, students must register 10 business days before the start date. For registration requests less than 10 days prior to the start of an online course, please contact NEWA to determine if the registration is possible. In either case - we will make every attempt to get a student’s request for a class or seminar fulfilled, but registration will be done only at the discretion of NEWA.
